For years a group inside France had been looking to incite a rebellion, wishing to become a full republic, with no King or ruler. They had developed a plan to kill off the Royal family and leave no heir to the throne. During one of Raphael Fernandez's speeches, the assassin would strike, running up to the podium, and shooting Fernandez in the head. At least that's what he wanted, he didn't exactly get that.
A French government agent had been tagging along with the group, undercover, and revealing any relevant information to the French government. When he heard of the planned assassination he quickly alerted French officials. Security doubled around Fernandez the day of the planned assassination, and as a result, the assassination was thwarted and the assassin captured. Word of the failed assassination brought great relief the the French people, and popularity for Fernandez rose throughout the empire.
+3 popularity in all French provinces.
Shortly after the failed assassination attempt the group knew there was a rat in their midst. An investigation followed, and the government agent was discovered and killed. The only remaining one that knows of the groups where-abouts is the would-be assassin who was captured. Would France rather kill him? Or try to get information out of him?

France interrogates the assassin for hours. The only bit of useful information that we could get was that the groups creator is not French. More information on this soon.
